Mom's away - Dad in charge

Steve was home alone with the kids while I was in the cities.  He kept me updated with text messages and the occasional picture.  Here are a few of my favorites!
What is going on here? I guess it was hot out but still??? How about shorts and a tank top? I will add that Drew's mom was also out of town!

So I guess Stephen doesn't think Sophie has enough athletic gear.....so he raided Brody's old clothes.  WHAT!!! My little sweetie pie looks like a BOY! All he has to do is tell me to go shopping and she will have lots more athletic gear! This picture about threw me over the edge - especially since they were outside in public view!

At least I know she was being fed - although it kind of seemed like she was just thrown a lot of cheerios. He kept saying how she was eating them by the handfuls....

Cute picture! She is getting a bath! But...

I guess Steve turned his back for a second and she pooped in the tub.  So he threw the dirty toys in my side of the sink with soap.....I guess at least he didn't leave them in the tub.

Steve's emergency night bottle in case she wakes up.  But of course she didn't because she only saves that for mom - every.single.night.

Um....at least she has a bow in her hair....

I'm sure the kids had lots of fun and I guess none of this is too bad :)  I won't be complaining because I hope to do this again....soon :)

Lindsay's Batchelorette Party

I went to the cities this weekend to celebrate my great friend Lindsay.  We had an absolute blast! I never get away from the kids so it felt like a vacation.  It was so much fun getting to catch up with old friends and to have actual conversations without getting interrupted - amazing.  I will admit I did miss the kiddos quite a bit.  I know they were in good hands :) - I will post more about that in a bit.  Here are some pictures that capture the fabulous time that we had!

9 Months Old

Sophie is 9 months and finally feeling better! These last couple weeks were rough on her.  Started out with a left ear infection, went to a double and then got hives from the medication.  Poor girl.  She is just starting to attempt to crawl - she doesn't have all the motions figured out yet but she is able to get to what she wants.  She kind of pulls herself, rolls, and maneuvers her way around.  I'm sure it won't be long now.  She also says mama - which is probably the cutest thing ever.  And I'm super excited she said it before dada :)  Stephen is convinced that her other babbling somehow means dada.  She still doesn't sleep though the night, I have no idea why not!! I think she just loves her alone time with me :)  Our monthly photo sessions are getting way harder! She just lunges towards the camera, grabs the chalk board, pulls her bow out, and does not want to smile and look at the camera at the same time! Here are a few of the pics.

Brody's Art Reception

Brody had an art reception last week at his preschool.  We were to bring in their favorite project so they could hang it up in the gallery.  I did not realize they did this and as many of you know I do not like to keep stuff.  Hahaha so I didn't have many "projects" for Brody to choose from :/ opps!  Good things Brods didn't really care!  But I mean seriously he comes home with about 5 projects every day! He was pretty proud of his work!

Grandma's 80th Birthday Party

We had SO much fun celebrating Grandma Marlis' surprise 80th birthday in Yankton, SD.  Seriously what is more fun then a weekend in a hotel with a pool, family, food, and even an Easter egg hunt!  We all arrived sometime on Friday afternoon and the kids didn't waste much time getting in the pool.  Then we waited for Grandma to come so we could surprise her - and wow was she surprised! I think it took a good 10 min to register what was going on.  She just stood there staring at us trying to figure it out :) Then we all hung out and had some pizza.  The next day was her open house celebration - lots of people came to wish her a happy birthday.  I was excited that my felt car mat was used by some of the kiddos.  We ate and ate and ate some more and then went to church.  Then when we got back to the hotel we had an Easter egg hunt for the kids in the hotel - they loved it! And pretty much all rules went out the window after that as you can see from the picture above Brody and Ty are sitting in the hotel bed eating pretty much whatever they wanted! Sorry Nancy and Kelly - I hope you didn't have to sleep in this bed! We had an incredible time and loved getting together with the family - we missed a few people :( but maybe someday we can ALL get together!

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK

I worked with Holly at a wedding in KC the night of the Kansas/Ohio game.  We were able to catch the last 3 min on the tv in the hotel lobby (along with about half of the wedding party).  We were so excited that we decided to drive down to Mass St as soon as we got back to Lawrence - in our dresses and all! (I was able to borrow a shirt from her brother who was staying down there) It was CRAZY! I've never got so many high fives in my life! We had a blast!

8 Months

Ahhh I love this girl SO much! Seriously - she is such a sweetie!! I just want to hold her all day long....maybe that's why she isn't crawling :)
