Douglas County Fair

We spent the morning at the fair in town.  There was some cloud cover and it was a tad cooler so we could actually enjoy it.  I was a little disappointed at the amount of animals - 4-H doesn't seem as popular here as southwest MN.  Brody loved feeding the animals - he was a little hesitant about the turtle making sure to ask me if it was a snapping turtle first.  Sophie didn't know what to think - she made lots of noises along with pointing and clapping her hands.  Of course I couldn't get her to smile though :) Brody was pretty excited to get to wear his rain boots from Grandma and Grandpa Herrmann because it rained a little last night (praise the Lord!) and I thought it might be a little muddy.  I'm sure his feet were super hot but he didn't care! These top two pictures are from Brody and I going back in the evening - we were waiting for the tractor pull to start and he wanted to ride a pony.

A year in review!

It really is just crazy how much babies change in one year.  Here is a picture of her at each month.  The only month I missed was her 11th month (we were out of town and I forgot!) but I just added a picture that was taken around the day she turned 11 months.  And I know she weighed a little over 18 lbs because she had an ear infection and went to the doctor on June 30th!  I added two pictures for the 5th month because one was just a face shot but I wanted you to see that she does smile too.  She is a stinker and doesn't always want to smile when I want her too :)

Final picture with chalkboard!

Taking Sophie's picture is not as easy as it once was!! I'm not disappointed at all that I won't have to do this every month anymore!  I decided to just put all pictures up so you can see what we go through for just one picture!! What I should have done is set up a video camera to tape Stephen, Brody and I so you could see how crazy we are behind the camera to get her to even look at it!

Sophie is 1

I can't believe Sophie is 1! Time goes so fast and they chance so much in just one year!  She loved getting some new toys! She really wants to get into her new doll stroller - so we are working on that :)  Grandpa Rolf and Grandma Joan came down to celebrate and we had the neighbors over for some banana splits.  Sophie was a little under the weather but loved all the action! She just makes her little noises and points at everything, it's so cute!!
