Thank you!

So Brody should know after his birthday how loved he is! He was spoiled by everyone! We just want to say thank you again to everyone for the gifts, parties and fun! We all loved it! He's probably going to go through some withdrawals since we were celebrating weekly there for a while! Here is just a glimpse of some of the stuff he got, we couldn't get everything out for the picture. He only thought it was fun for about 2 minutes since we weren't actually playing with anything. :)

Brody is 3

I can't believe Brody is 3! Wow does time fly! He even started preschool a few weeks ago! We have been celebrating this birthday for like a month now. First with Grandma and Grandpa Herrmann and Uncle Matt and Aunt Christy, then in MN with Mahlberg grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and then on his actual birthday. After the birthday party in MN we just told him he was 3 because he was getting so confused. On the way home he said next time we go to MN lets have another birthday party! Haha he was a little spoiled! It's nice to be a little closer to family so we can celebrate with each other. Brody, Sophie and I went to Deanna Rose Farm in Overland Park on his actual birthday. He had a blast. He fed the goats a bottle, rode a pony named Sadie, fed the fish, ducks and geese, did some mining and got ice cream. We had a slight melt down when it was time to leave but he cheered up once we got to Chick-Fil-A for lunch where he played for about an hour in the play area. We had tons of fun!

Life with two kids

As you can tell I've been a little busy lately, considering I haven't updated the blog in forever! Having two kids is a lot different! There is no sleep when the baby sleeps anymore! Brody is an amazing son but man does he require a lot of attention and I mean a lot! The move has been a little hard on him, I think he misses his friends and the routine we used to have, so much has changed for him. Plus babies need lots of attention which takes away from my time with him. Before Sophie, Brody and I could do whatever we wanted whenever we wanted and it was pretty easy! He doesn't quiet understand that things have changed some. He does love Sophie though, he is constantly touching her, hugging her, kissing her. The other day he came into the kitchen and told Stephen and I that Sophie wanted to do some tummy time, I immediately ran into the living room to find Sophie on her stomach, he claims she rolled over herself, but she is not even close to doing that. So needless to say we need to watch him at all times. Sophie is amazing, she is feeling much better now that she is on the acid reflux medicine, not as much screaming :) I'm excited for her to start interacting with us a little more!

Sophie's Here

I know it's been awhile since we've blogged but life has been a little crazy!! Baby Sophie has arrived! It was an interesting and fast arrival which ended up being great. My parents were here because we were thinking I was going to go into labor soon, it was a little risky though because it was still a week and a half early. I was having contractions on and off on Saturday but they weren't in my back or regular so everything indicated they were false contractions. The only thing was they were painful! So finally at about 3:15p I told Steve maybe we should go to the hospital, so we got there and I walked in used the restroom in the lobby and then headed upstairs. I told the nurses I thought I was in labor, which they looked at me like I was crazy but went ahead and put me in a room. Things started out slow - asking questions, putting on heart rate monitor and contraction monitor, then she left. She came back after about 10-15 min, I think she saw the contractions were coming on faster and stronger and she checked me, and realized I was 8 cm dilated. My only concern was the epidural, she told me to hold on while she got some help. Next thing we know it there is like 5 people in the room, I was asking Steve to you tube some contraction breathing because I was struggling. All the sudden they were pulling out the delivery stuff, it was this unspoken thing that I was not getting an epidural! Next problem there was no doctor, apparently they called the ER doctor who replied "it's been a long time since I've delivered a baby" (they didn't tell me that). But they found a different dr who just delivered another baby to come in. She broke my water and about one and a half pushes later she was here at 4:39p. It was crazy! I didn't think I could do it! But it was kind of nice not having all that anticipation time and waiting! Everything went great and she is beautiful! We love her so much! I thought I better get this written down before I forget! It will be fun to share this with Sophie some day!
